For Sometimes, and sometimes not Klaas Vanhee presents a series of new riso-printed works on paper, along with recent drawings, paintings and sculpture. Vanhee takes the potentially endless process of inscription and erasure inherent in drawing as a model for a practice that, across a variety of mediums (painting, object making, installation, video and printmaking), reshuffles fragments of words and images to produce incomplete, often erotically charged narratives.
Klaas Vanhee (1982, Mechelen, Belgium) currently lives and works in Ghent. A graduate of the city’s LUCA school of arts in the painting department, he recently completed the postgraduate residency programme at HISK – Higher Institute for Fine Arts, Ghent. Over the past several months he has exhibited at Galeria Silvestre, Tarragona; Z33, Hasselt; Musée Royal de l’Armée, Brussels; and CIAP, Hasselt.
